Know More about Science Fiction Awards, Clubs and Organisations
Science fiction is a genre, which is getting more and more popular day by day. It is the imaginative world of fantasy and exciting adventure, which correlates romance with creative skills, to think up a world, which might be in the past or in the future. Scientific principles, as well as scientific technology are implemented here to create a nebulous world of popular fiction.
That is where the best science-fiction books are given prestigious awards in the shape of Hugo Award, and of course the Nebula award. This latter award is given after a panel of writers casts the votes. Edgar Rice Burroughs did not get any science-fiction award for his Princess of Mars series, starring John Carter that immortal and perfect Southern gentleman, who reached Mars after the civil war. Nevertheless, science-fiction awards do not go to the most popular fiction series, and on the other hand, some of the fiction which receives these awards is quite technically developed and quite beyond the comprehension of a person with an IQ less than 180. Nevertheless, science-fiction awards are a cachet on par with Oscar awards, to be the goal and the dream of every science-fiction writer.
Canada also has personal and national science fiction award, called the Aurora award. Science-fiction writers of the Pacific Northwest can aspire to the Endeavour award. Magazines also hold competitions when the voters vote for the best book. Science-fiction conventions and clubs are quite popular, because this gives science-fiction fans an opportunity to let their hair down, and come in costumes depicting their favourite science fiction character. Apart from this, there are autograph sessions, discussions, and readings from forthcoming books. Award presentation ceremonies are also held during these functions. Clubs have activities held throughout the year for the entertainment of the fans.
